Rionegro is a small city in the Colombian Andes. It's home to Medellín’s international airport. The Cathedral of St. Nicholas, with its domed towers, is on the Plaza de la Libertad. The Convention House Historic Museum is housed in a building where a version of the Colombian constitution was enacted in 1863. Southwest of the center, Tutucán is a replica of a typical local village, with a church, mill and farm.
Rionegro es un municipio de Colombia, ubicado en el departamento de Antioquia. Se encuentra en el valle de San Nicolás o también llamado altiplano del oriente, en la subregión Oriente, siendo la población más grande, así como la que concentra el movimiento económico de la subregión. Su nombre oficial es Ciudad Santiago de Arma de Rionegro.
Tutucán is a recreational park located in the city of Rionegro. You will find amusement park rides, water fun, and colloquial humor with Antioquian traditions are the main character of this place.

The Old Peñol Theme Park is a tourist place where you can see the story of El Peñol, the replica of old Peñol at scale you can find the square, the church, the mayor's office, the kiosk and the store, it also has commercial premises with handicrafts for visitors to take away their memories.
El Parque Temático Viejo Peñol es un lugar turistico donde se puede contar la historia de El Peñol, la replica del viejo Peñol a escala podrás encontrar la plaza, la iglesia, la alcaldía, el quiosco y la tienda, también cuenta con locales comerciales y de artesanías para que los visitantes se lleven su recuerdo.
The City of El Peñol
More than 50 years ago the inhabitants of El Peñol were told that their town would be flooded to give way to the most important hydroelectric reservoir in the country, about 4,700 inhabitants of the urban area, villages of El Peñol and part of Guatapé were relocated.
Since the 1930s, Nare River studies were being carried out to see what its hydroelectric potential was, due to the industrial boom and being able to supply the cities with the necessary energy. In 1957 the definitive studies were made and in January of 1961 the construction of the Peñol Guatape Reservoir was made official.
Hace mas de 50 años a los habitantes de El Peñol les dijeron que su pueblo sería inundado para darle paso al embalse hidroeléctrico más importante del país, fueron reubicados cerca de 4.700 habitantes del casco urbano, veredas de el Peñol y parte de Guatapé.
Desde los años 30 se venían haciendo estudios al Río Nare para ver cual era su potencial hidroeléctrico, debido al auge industrial y poder abastecer las ciudades con la energía necesaria. En 1.957 se hicieron los estudios definitivos y en enero de 1.961 se hizo oficial la construcción del Embalse Peñol Guatape.
The City of Guatapé
The municipality of Guatapé is located in the eastern part of the department of Antioquia, about 75 km from Medellín. Initially, it was characterized as a town with a livestock, agricultural and mining strength, however, during the 70s the great proposal of Public Companies was carried out with the creation of the Guatapé reservoir, flooding about 2,262 hectares of land for the creation of this megaproject.

The most wonderful thing about Guatapé is to walk through its colorful streets, for this quality is known as the "Town of the Zocalos". Many of them have been made in the 20th century and the tradition of keeping them on the facade of homes is still preserved. In some cases it represents the indigenous history of its past and the Antioquia colonization.

The square of the zócalo highlights the beautiful tradition of the town. This place is made up of some bleachers with the most representative themes. In its surroundings it is possible to find some restaurants, selling handicrafts, sweets and coffee.

El municipio de Guatapé, está ubicado en la zona oriente del departamento de Antioquia, a unos 75 Km de Medellín. Inicialmente, se caracterizó por ser un pueblo con una fortaleza ganadera, agrícola y minera, sin embargo, durante los años 70 se llevó a cabo la gran propuesta de Empresas Públicas con la creación del embalse de Guatapé, inundando cerca de 2.262 hectáreas de tierra para la creación de este megaproyecto.

Lo más maravilloso de Guatapé es caminar por sus coloridas calles, por esta cualidad es conocido como el «Pueblo de los zócalos». Muchos de ellos han sido hechos en el Siglo XX y aún se conserva la tradición de mantenerlos en la fachada de los hogares. En algunos casos representa la historia indígena de su pasado y la colonización antioqueña.

La plazoleta del zócalo destaca la hermosa tradición del pueblo. Este lugar lo conforman algunas graderías con los temas más representativos. En sus alrededores es posible encontrar algunos restaurantes, venta de artesanías, dulces y café.
La piedra del Peñol, ubicada a 15 minutos de Guatapé.
El costo para poder subir a la cima de la piedra es de aproximadamente 20.000 pesos. Las entradas se adquieren en la taquilla ubicada en la base de la piedra. Alrededor del sitio, es posible encontrar también ofertas gastronómicas y gran variedad de artesanías.
